Informix RSS Monitoring

Hi,
We are running Informix 11.70.FC7W2 on Solaris. We are setting up a
read-only RSS node to our primary. We want to setup some monitoring to see
if the RSS node is keeping up the with primary. Any way to get some of the
information via a query that is similar to the onstat -g rss verbose
information? Specifically there is a line that says "Approximate Log Page
Backlog:".
Also I see when you add the cluster in OAT there is a column called "Lag
Time" under the Cluster Topology, any idea on how they get this?
Any other suggestions for RSS monitoring would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,

The data you want are in the sysmaster tables syssrcrss and systrgrss:
$ dbstruct -d sysmaster -t '*rss'
typedef struct SYSSRCRSS_S {
int64_t address;
char server_name[128];
char server_status[20];
char connection_status[20];
char log_transmission_status[20];
int next_page_tosend_log_uniq;
int next_page_tosend_log_page;
int seq_tosend;
int last_seq_acked;
} syssrcrss_t;
typedef struct SYSTRGRSS_S {
int64_t address;
char source_server[128];
char connection_status[20];
int last_received_log_uniq;
int last_received_log_page;
int last_seq_received;
int last_seq_acked;
} systrgrss_t;
The backlogs and lag times are calculated by comparing data between the
Source server (syssrcrss) and Target server (systrgrss).

Hi Art,
Thank you yes I know about those tables. Though Informix must be using
something else to calculate the 2 values I am interested in i.e. backlogs
and lag times. Does anyone have a SQL to get these values?
Here is onstat -g rss verbose and below is data from the 2 sysmaster rss
tables. See the data doesn't match up.
Primary is called test 1 and RSS is called testrss

Hi David,
OAT displays the "Lag Time" as the average of the 20 most recent 5 second
intervals available in sysmaster:sysha_lagtime.
The entire query is long and can be found in:
<OAT_install_dir>/Apache_2.4.2/htdocs/openadmin/services/idsadmin/MACH11Server.p
hp
in the function getClusterStatus(). If you need me to send it, please let
me know.
If you're unable to find a table that has the 'Approximate Log Page
Backlog' info, and you need it in SQL, I'm sure you've thought of doing
something like: select task("onstat", "-g rss verbose") from systables
where tabid=1;
Regards,
Sumanth.

Hi Sumanth,
Thank you for the information. Thank you for pointing me to the
sysha_lagtime table and I found the php script OAT uses. As for the
'Approximate Log Page Backlog', I am still looking for a query or
calculation for that. I guess I could use your suggestion for using the
sql admin api and parse the results and use that for monitoring. Anyone
else have a query or calculation to see how their RSS nodes are keeping up?
Here is a simple version to get the avg of the last 20 lagtime intervals.
select round (((
round (l.lt_lagtime_1, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_2, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_3, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_4, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_5, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_6, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_7, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_8, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_9, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_10, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_11, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_12, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_13, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_14, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_15, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_16, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_17, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_18, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_19, 5) +
round (l.lt_lagtime_20, 5)
) / 20), 3)
from sysmaster:sysha_lagtime l
where l.lt_secondary = "testrss";
