Crash course for an Oracle DBA

Hi, I'm an Oracle DBA, given the task of supporting a customer with Informix Databases. I have to give myself a crash course in Informix. I'm trying to relate Oracle to Informix terms, to give me a start. The customer is running IDS Version 9.20.TC3X1 (not what the suffix is) running on NT4 :( I'm trying to find a resource on the web that will give me a rundown of Informix terminology, I've been skimming through 'INFORMIX - OnLine Dynamic Server Handbook' by Carlton Doe, published in 1997. I've got as far as the following, if there are any Oracle people here, maybe they can correct any misconceptions. Informix Oracle Page Block Chunk Datafile DBSpace Tablespace I believe that the DBSpace <-> Tablespace equation is not a precise analogy, though I'm willing to be corrected. My quick skim has also led to to believe that there are fundamental differences between an instance in Oracle and one in Informix, and the same applies to the term 'database'. Anyway, any good documentation out there freely available over the web? What I'm looking for is a treatise on concepts, once I have the basics digested, it will be easier to start masticating the heavier details. Also, is a 9.30 trial version downloadable? I can only find version 10 on IBM's website, but that may be because I don't know where to look. Many thanks. -- Tony
