KAIO IDS7.30FC5 on Tru64/DU4.0D
Posted in 2000
Can anybody tell me the relationship between BUFFERS/LRUs/CLEANERS and kernel asynchronous I/O queues? I'm getting errors in the online log: KAIO: out of OS resources after upping the number of BUFFERS, (and accordingly LRUs and CLEANERS). Rather than reduce the values to their former settings, I'd like to resolve the KAIO issue to see if there is a performance improvement from the changes I have made. I've established that I need to up the values for the rt subsys in the kernel (aio-max-num and aio-max-percent) but have absolutely no idea what their correlation is to the number of BUFFERS, LRU queues and CLEANERS? IFMXDECMAXAIO=768 (default in rt subsys for aio-max-num) I can no longer find this environment variable in the release notes, is it still used? aio-max-percent=1 (default) Anyone out there using KAIO on DEC/Compaq Alpha?
