Two different instances with IDS 7.31
Hello, I have a problem setting two different instances in On-Line mode. I'm sorry but I have to give you some technical data: 1) Host: Sun Ultra-10 / Solaris 7 - 128 MB RAM 2) The /etc/system file was configured in accordance with the release note of the engine 7.31, in this way: set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=268435456 set semsys:seminfo_semmap=64 set semsys:seminfo_semmni=4096 set semsys:seminfo_semmns=4096 set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=4096 set semsys:seminfo_semume=64 set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=100 set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=100 set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100 set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=100 (I tell you I'm not an expert configuring shared memory and kernel parameters !!!). 3) I could start one instance but not the second. The on-line instance has the following shared memory parameters: Max # of Bufferes: 20000 Resident shared memory size: 43626 KB The second not initialized instance has set: Max # of buffers: 1000 Resident shared memory size: 12090 KB When I tried to initialize the second instance, I got the following sign: "Shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 'ol_test_shm'. Post your ONCONFIG file. I suspect your NETTYPE settings in combination with the kernel settings. Art S. Hi! This might be silly, but is the server (instance) number different between the two onconfig files you are using?
