Normally you will find a starting point in the $INFORMIXDIR/release/*
directory.
Assuming you have already set up these parameter, and the onstat -g seg ,
shows no more than one virtual segment, just give us some answers:
1) What is the output of onstat -p ?
2) Do you experiment a lot of latch conditions?
3) What about the locking requests?, does your lockwaits increase
dramatically?
4) What is your disk layout? , Is it good for the highly used tables
5) Are you sure you have the physical and logical logs in a separate dbspace
?
6) If your users connect trough a network, have you monitored the streams
for the
type of network? , If not , Do they connect through the shared memory?
7) What is your actual configuration for NETTYPE configuration? (Important
to improve
the initial connection a process must made via the poll threads !)
As you can see, there is a lot of stuff involved in performance tuning, so
your question
should be more specific, otherwise, I think recommendations could not target
your
specific needs.

Mario Estrada
