We frequently perform this type of restore with ADSM.
You must make OnBar and your Storage Manager function like it is
restoring data to the Informix instance from which the backup was taken.
The exact methods depends your storage manager.

How can I restore an onbar dbspace backup from one host to another?
The instances are exactly the same, except for they run on different
HP-UX machines. I'm running HP-UX 10.20 and Informix 7.24.
Thanks,
David

Make sure the name of the instances are the same (eg. if you backed up
instance prod1, then you need to restore to an instance named
prod1). Copy the ixbar.X file relating to the primary instance from
the original machine to the restore machine. The server number can be
different but you'll need to make sure the new ixbar.X file reflects
the instance number of the instance you are restoring to. Edit the
ixbar.X file and remove logs, leaving only the dbspaces from the
session that you want to restore. Take the engine offline and begin
the restore.
