Re: New to Informix

Having dealt with Business Basic (Data General's) in a previous life and having come to the Informix World in the early 90's myself, I think that you will be very happy with the technology switch - just give it some time. Informix training classes and materials are very good. Since you and your team members do not have much rel. db experience, I would suggest the following classes (in this order): Relational Database Design (class 611) Structured Query Language (class 613) Developing Applications Using Informix 4GL (class 007) Then, as you get more into development and if you will really do database and/or system administration, I would suggest: Managing and Optimizing Informix Dynamic Server (class 848) Informix Dynamic Server System Admin. (class 846 - assumes UNIX) You can take IDS.2000 classes instead of 7.3 - close enough...
