Re: nt file types

Another interesting way is to use Send To feature of NT. This is available when you click the right button of the mouse on any file in Explorer. You can see Send To with an arrow. If you wander your mouse towards the arrow, a list will drop down. If you click on any of the items in the list, the file will be 'sent to' that item. The trick is to add programs to the Send To menu. To do this, go to \\winnt\\profiles\\All Users directory. Create a subdirectory named 'SendTo'. Then copy shortcuts for all your favorite programs into this directory. The next time you click the right mouse button on any file, and wander to the Send To option, you will see these shortcuts. You can then 'send' your file to any of these. For people without Administrator rights to their machines, sorry this won't work for you unless you take the System Admin to lunch. You will see a slightly different menu from the usual right-click, it contains "Open with...". Select that and choose what you like from the list, but be sure to clear the little box that says "always open files of this type with this application" or some such. If you hold your mouse upside down it might work on alternate Mondays. -- Peter Lancashire Information Systems Specialist, Bayer plc Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7AH, UK Tel: +44-1635-562258, Fax: +44-1635-562281 --- If all else fails, read the instructions and the release notes.
