JDBC Failure inserting TEXT datatype
Posted in 1999
Has anyone else run into this problem before? We're using JDK 1.2.1 on Windows NT, Informix JDBC driver version 2.0, and Informix 7.30.UC5 on Solaris to insert records into a very simple table which contains a serial integer ID, a VARCHAR description, and a TEXT column. Although I've successfully added records to this table, the TEXT column is always NULL. However, I am able to insert values into this same column using the SQL "load from..." statement. In Java, I use the preparedStatement.setAsciiStream() method, and have been able to confirm that the FileInputStream in fact has the contents of the input file, and that the input length value I pass is correct. In addition, virtually every single Java statement is in a try-catch block, and no exceptions occur while processing. I also tried using the Informix-specific IfmxPreparedStatement class, with no change in behavior. Two of us here have looked at and tested the code, and reluctantly came to the conclusion that this appears to be JDBC bug. All suggesions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! Rich -- Richard C.
