Re: Blocked Check points during onload

Phillip,
When the system slows down during this process and I execute any onstat -*
the second line after the versioning info is:
"CHECKPOINT BLOCKED"
I execute an onmode -c and after ten minutes I and the system is slow
painfully slow the world is about to end; I kill the onload, a checkpoint
completes of about 6-10 minutes in duration. Everything is back to normal.
And the logs are just fine thank you very much! This morning I had one out
of 50 that was used and not backed up. One was in the "C"urrent status so I
know it wasn't full logs.
thanks anyway
Blocked checkpoints??? What's a blocked checkpoint? Now there is such a
thing
as Blocked LBU, but that doesn't have to do with a checkpoint. That message
pertains to logical logs that are full and in need of backing up. This
actually
sounds like the case that's happening. When the all the logs become full,
unless you've set your onconfig LBU_PRESERVE parameter to 1, your system
essentially hangs waiting for you to backup the logical logs. If that's the
message you're getting, simply back up the logical logs using the normal
method
you use (i.e. ontape or onbar) and you should be fine. Best of luck.
