System : OLTP or DSS?

Hi guys, Given a system can we find whether it is a OLTP or DSS without interacting with Users or Developers? I am asking this question as our performance tuning decisions are greatly affected by the application. Even though we can collect information from users/developers about the frequency of queries/insert/deletes/updates, but if the information is not correct, it will affect the tuning and finally the performance of the system. Thanks in advance Vinod Bhansali ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
