You can, and if the server host fails you can have your failover mechanism start IDS on another cluster member. However, keep the first answer in mind. Only one server can access a particular disk chunk at any one time. If you want to take best advantage of all the horsepower, take a look at Informix 8.xx which can distribute database or even single tables across servers running on multiple cluster members treating the whole thing as a single database.
