SP's and SQLERRD ???
Posted in 1995
I am fairly new to the use of stored procedures, so foregive me if this question is lame.... Within a SP, I want to perform a select. After the select, I want to determine whether any rows were found. According to TFM, using dbinfo to get 'sqlca.sqlerrd2' will return the number of rows processed. Only problem, it doesn't return anything near accurate results. I can't imagine that no one else has seen this. TechSupport is going to spend the next 2-4 days sifting through problem reports, to determine whether anything exists. I know, because I'm seeing it, and really don't want to wait a week. So, how are people doing this, if "dbinfo('sqlca.sqlerrd2')" doesn't return the right answer?? Sure I could do a select (*) first, but we're developing an OLTP application, and I can't afford the extra cycles and i/o. I'd appreciate any feedback, suggestions, etc. (no flames please).
