Initializing and copying tables

Hi there, As anybody a good idea to initialize a table, because delete from .... where 1=1 is very slow!. A second thing is how to copy a existing table to another one. In case of saving the existing table before we do some dangerous updates. When something is going wrong we use the old table to continue working. How to save quickly a complete database? We are using Informix OWS 7.2xx Thanks, Danny
How about Drop and recreate the table (you can use dbschema to generate the
structure of the table before dropping the table) ?
