A special shout out to Jerry K.

Yo! Jerry K! I'm hurt that you don't call or write. Where's the love? The reason I'm dropping you this line is that as things move forward, people are starting to see that if IBM wanted their opinion on things, IBM would have told them what to think. Meaning that IBM doesn't really want feedback from the Informix community. You may take offense with that comment, but hey! Why stop there? I've blasted your choice in retaining incompetent 'fscks' in key positions. Well maybe they aren't incompetent, but that their goals and objectives were not in alignment with a clear vision and stated goals. Well maybe the key issue is that there aren't any clear vision or goals, but to just keep the status quo and tow the line till retirement? The key take away is that the IDS community is starting to realize that IBM isn't going to promote IDS and that over time, its market share will continue to decay. Alternatives will replace it and maintaining and enhancing their IDS related skills is a waste of time. Or that is, enhancing other skills like cloud computing, distributed computing, or other rdbms products. (Hmmm. Since many customers are migrating to Oracle or Postgress, does it make sense to get DB2 certification or Oracle's? ;-) On a different note: How dem numbers looking these days? 8-0 Sure you can interpret them a lot of different ways, but when you get down to it... the numbers don't lie. But hey! What do I know? (Definitely more than I can say...) -G _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Powerful Free email with security by Microsoft. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/201469230/direct/01/

You do realize that those at IBM that still champion IDS are not going to do anything until its too late. And those at IBM who don't care for IDS but want DB2 to succeed are just waiting in the wings for the last nail in Informix's coffin to get pounded in.... _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Free, trusted and rich email service. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/201469228/direct/01/
