Info wanted: Optimizing Informix configuration/Sun linking

We are running Informix 5.01 on a Sun 10/512 (64 Mb RAM, 2 * 1Gb drives). I am interested in recommendations for literature/faqs/etc. on optimizing Informix performance -- "good" partitioning choices, and the like. I know about "set explain on"; but want to try to get as much low level optimization done as well. (Nearly) all of our code is in 4gl; for a number of reasons this is not likely to change, so consider that to be a requirement. Question 2: we are using the c4gl compiler with the SunPro 2.01 C compiler. We have one main informix app which 5-6 users are normally working on. Using the default dynamic linking, we cannot replace our executable while users are using the app. I would like to test static linking in order to avoid the problem, but when I compiled a test app. with -G it "went bonkers" -- starting running and did nothing. Used up an impressive amount of cpu though.... With -Bstatic I have problems with duplicated symbols in libucb and libc -- I need to leave libucb in the library path since a couple of our C apps use it. Any suggestions??
