configure database on other system
Hi all, I want to configure a database on another system because of capacity problems. I want to store my customers data on that other machine. I'm am running on SuSe 10.1 with IDS 9.40. Is there anywhere some documentation about this topic? Thanks for any information!! Danny

Remote database access is pretty standard stuff in the Informix world. You have to install the CSDK or iClient on the client machine unless it has it's own server installed and running. You make an entry into the sqlhosts file on the client that points to the server, set up a TCP connection in the remote server and poof! Danny- Just make sure that the two machines have permissions set up for the instances to talk to each other. (sqlhosts entries, etc.) Refer to the remote database tables as my_new_database@my_new_server:my_table. For more info refer to the IDS Administration Guide & Reference, the SQL reference may be helpful, too.
