It does in a 4GL construct. = first in a field in query mode is supposed to tell the generator to use = instead of matches or use is null if you type nothing after the =sign (which you probably allready use to find your first alternative with null in the field). You should find your third alternative by either simply typing a space and = or = = (equal space equal).
