The level of granularity for archive/restore in 7.x is dbspace. This may equate to anything from your entire database server to just a fragment of a table, depending on how you have configured things. If you have a database which is wholly contained within just one dbspace then you can archive and restore it in isolation. However, there are some caveats: 1. When doing a partial archive/restore, OnLine must be in online mode (i.e. this is a warm archive/restore). 2. When restoring just some dbspaces (as opposed to the whole system). You *must* rollforward all your backed up logical logs right up to 'now'. You cannot stop at a specific point in time. 3. With 7.21 and later, 'point in time recovery' is possible but only if: a) You are doing a total server restore (i.e. a cold restore of the entire OnLine instance). b) You are using OnBar as the backup/restore tool.
