I would say that you could consider, in decreasing order of preference, Business Objects, Hummingbird BI/Suite, Cognos, Seagate Analysis, Crystal Reports. Business Objects is my number one favourite because it's great to make accountants talk about the problems they have with BO. No, actually, it's because BO has the most comprehensive "universe-definition" capabilities, which makes it easier to hand over to lusers. Hummingbird is really easy to use, but slightly less comprehensive in the "universe-definition" stakes. But that's just an opinion. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
I would add BriQuery to the list of tools to look at. It provides similar meta-data capabilities to Business Objects (but generally not quite as sophisticated) allowing you to hide the complexity of the database from the user. On the other hand, it can be set up to allow developers or true "power" users to get straight at the data.
