And how should Informix know which database you where thinking on? > How would you do this ? I wouldn't... Is there any reason why they cant't have names like database_1 and database_2? (And if there is you could run two instances on the same server, they can of cource have the same content [with ie. replication?]) > > Alvin > > --------------CF5199BF62D2957E76F42C44 > Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; Please don't use vcard in news-groups, it's ok in mail though (as long as I don't recieve it:) Thomas
No, and why would you want to do this? Yes you can.
In Informix, a database is a logical collection of tables.
create database accounting in dbspace1;
create database human_resources in dbspace2;
On our system, we have two main databases, where the information is
logically divided, but able to be accessed through 4GL reporting.
