Version 6 DSA and up provides a System Monitoring Interface (SMI) that provides a read only SQL interface to the data obtainable from tools such as tbstat. Currently supported tables are sysdatabases : available databases, including owner and characteristics systabnames : names of all tables in the OnLine system syslogs : logical log information sysdbspaces : dbspaces information syschunks : chunks syslocks : active locks (getting the picture?) sysvpprof : virtual processor information syssessions : session information syssesprof : more session information sysextents : extents allocated to the OnLine system syschkio : view contains I/O statistics by chunk sysptprof : snapshot info on tblspaces in use by current sessions sysprofile : general events, disk reads, roll backs checkpoints etc For example, a select * from sysprofile provides the following : name value dskreads 7836 bufreads 110842 dskwrites 101 bufwrites 391 isamtot 152169 isopens 1681 isstarts 5009 isreads 53666 iswrites 152 isrewrites 5 isdeletes 4 iscommits 5 isrollbacks 0 ovtbls 0 ovlock 0 ovuser 0 ovtrans 0 latchreqs 379252 latchwts 26 buffwts 543 lockreqs 204457 lockwts 0 ckptwts 0 deadlks 0 lktouts 0 numckpts 3 plgpagewrites 24 plgwrites 3 llgrecs 43 llgpagewrites 12 llgwrites 8 pagreads 7873 pagwrites 151 flushes 50 compress 11 fgwrites 0 lruwrites 0 chunkwrites 65 btradata 859 btraidx 189 dpra 14 rapgs_used 1052 seqscans 456 Another, select * from syssessions provides : sid 4 username sapr3 uid 402 pid 717 hostname sycamore tty connected 773475867 feprogram is_wlatch 0 is_wlock 0 is_wbuff 0 is_wckpt 0 is_wlogbuf 0 is_wtrans 0 is_monitor 0 is_incrit 0 state 655361 Informix have told me that they intend to increase the number of SMI tables available in the future. To my knowledge, the above is a complete list of the 'supported' tables on our port. Also, I think that something similiar to SMI was offered in version 5.0, but it is not immediately available and my understanding is that Informix tech will not support it. Anybody know any more ($INFORMIXDIR/etc/makeps.sql is a pointer). One final point, which version of Informix are we attempting to compare to Oracle 7.0.x / 7.1.x here? Cheers, Mark > > 3.
