Call for discussion for creating a newsgroup "comp.databases.informix.art-s-kagel". Charter of group: Since most of the questions are already addressed to Him, why not? Voting: Voting will be in a two week period from the 24th of Sept. to 8th of Oct. During this period, please email your votes to kagel@bloomberg.net, with a subject line containing either "yes" or "no". Any duplicate or amibiguous votes, or votes received outside this period, will be discarded. NOTE: Sorry Art if people actually flood your mailbox. :) -- Rob Wilson rwilson@ntsource.com

Since Art does more for Informix than their marketing dep. he should have his own group. > Voting: > Voting will be in a two week period from the 24th of Sept. to 8th of > Oct. Mail should be sent to support@informix.com marketing@informix.com and sales@informix.com with the subject "Hello?". All votes will be discarded. > NOTE: > Sorry Art if people actually flood your mailbox. Oh, I bet they already do:) Thomas (I actually saw an informix ad on CNN last week, so I guess there's at least one person in marketing)

My (apparently poorly thought-out) attempt at humor seems to have backfired. I was mostly just trying to indicate that this is indeed a newsgroup and questions should not be directed at one person (although I have benefitted from many of Art's postings). This seems to be the same feeling as everyone replying to this post. Funny Rob, guys, funny. ;-) OK my mail filter is now set to reject anything containing databases and kagel in the same string. Fire away. :-) Thanks for the recognition folk. I have to admit though that I have very selfish reasons for participating here so actively. I enjoy it! I like helping and sharing. I started because I wanted to get a better handle on bugs and problems, maybe learn a thing or three about tuning this beast called IDS from such luminaries as John Miller III and Jonathan Leffler and everyone else, and I got hooked. This participation gets me through my day while I watch my 16 IDS engines chug away, yaaaawwwnnnnn. Anyway, I'm not a Q, nor even a Metron or Organian, I miss some, blow others and plain don't know a goodly number of answers. So CDI is still the best place to go. Learn as I did, by sharing and paying attention. Now no more of this new newsgroup stuff. Please? Art S.
