Informix 11
What is the best version of informix 11 at this time. We are planning to upgrade from Informix 10FC* and Informix 10FC4 ( one instance) to Informix 11. Not sure whather to go to Informix 11.1 or Informix 11.2 or Informix 11.5 at this time. Any guidance will be appreciated. thanks Pat Kote
There is no 11.20, the choices are 11.10 or 11.50. At this time, for production work, I would go with 11.10. There is no 11.2. We have customers on 11.10.latest and they are stable. No advice - only what I'd do and why: I'd personally perfer 11.50 because it is the way forward. 11.10 is a kind of dodo, there are two fixpacks for 11.10 and that's it - no ,more fixpacks are planned. In case of bugs - any fixpack will be based on 11.50 solely. So you might want to go to 11.50 right away. Of course 11.50 is brand new and has a lot of new features so conventional wisdom tells us to stay away form it at least until after the first or second fixpack release (i.e IDS 11.50.xC2 or xC3) . However, most of the new features went into 11.10, too , so I guess there are comparatively few bugs that (exist IDS 11.50 AND no exist in 11.10) HTH in your decision Regards Tilman
