Looks like thats the next thing to work on :-) Anyway, the above syntax is correct. -> The output files, except for fgiuser.c, were produced with no error -> messages. I next tried to make the output files. -> "fgiusr.c" is only produced if $INFORMIXDIR/bin/fglpc exists. In other words you Rapid Development to get an "fgiusr.c". -> In attempting to run db4glgen 2.2, the first problem encountered is that -> make does not like the following construction in the first few lines of -> c4gl. At least the error message relates to a () problem. -> Hmmm... it sounds like a problem with make on your platform (or are you using "csh"). I believe make is part of the Development Set on some systems and part of the Base Operating System on others. Also, c4gl comes with Informix-4GL, so maybe they know about the problem (maybe not :-) -> Running c4gl from the command line works, but the compiler indicates -> lines in test.ec are not reached around lines 700-900, depending on the -> table being compiled. I don't know, since there does not seem to be any -> man page beyond the README file. -> Leaving LT_FOUR_ONE defined is correct. I promise, I'll create a man page! -> After compiling the .o files I tried to compile the .4ge file by calling -> c4gl from the command line. I got this: -> -> form4gl -s test.per -> # -> The form "test.per.per" can not be opened. This is probably because -> it does not exist, or the user does not have read permission. -> See error number -2041. -> *** Error code 1 -> -> Stop. -> You are definitly running a pre ".03" release. -> When all is said and done, it appears db4glgen is designed to produce -> something not too different from a default perform table. Unfortunately, -> it does not seem to do much of anything on my versions of the software: -> -> RELEASE Description -> ------- ----------- -> -> 1.10.00aS0 INFORMIX 4GL -> 2.10.00aS0 INFORMIX ESQL/C -> 2.10.00aS0 INFORMIX SQL -> A HA! See, I told you that you were running a pre ".03" release. The reason for the jump from db4glgen-1.6 to db4glgen-2.1 was an upgrade of Informix on my machine. I'll send you a copy of db4glgen-1.6, this will work with your version of Informix with NO problems (namely cause it was developed with that ver.) Keep in mind, all the new features in 2.2 will not be available to you :-( -> Can anybody running these releases offer any guidance? You may want to consider upgrading your version of Informix software. DAS -- David A. Snyder @ UE&C - Catalytic in Philadelphia, PA UUCP: ..!uunet!trac2000!das INTERNET: das@trac2000.ueci.com
