Sorry no SCO here. We do have an Apache/Perl/DBI/Informix/AIX environment.
Here's a cron/script/dbaccess sample. The root crontab runs daily_stuff as
informix.
Among other things daily_stuff runs groups of update statistics and logs
completion.
There are other ways to run dbaccess; e.g. cat script.sql | dbaccess -e online1.
From root's crontab:
# M-F 8PM Informix runs the daily_stuff script
00 20 * * 1,2,3,4,5 su - informix -c /usr/local/adm/daily_stuff
daily_stuff:
#Do some UNIX file maintenance...
<intentionaly left blank>
#Quiesce the db, run level 0 archive, stop/start logging, send some e-mail,
etc...
<intentionaly left blank>
#Run some update statistics...
dbaccess //crap/online1 /home/system/dba/upd1_stats.sql >>
/home/system/dba/upd1_stats.log 2>&1 &
dbaccess //crap/online1 /home/system/dba/upd2_stats.sql >>
/home/system/dba/upd2_stats.log 2>&1 &
