ISQL is great e.g. for any "quick and dirty" ad-hoc reports etc, which would be too much of a hassle to code in 4GL, while it doesn't provide any procedural elements in its language (just plain SQL). For any more sophisticated applications, I greatly prefer 4GL because it gives much more control and allows you to do many things that just are impossible with ISQL.
