Informix and Solaris

Dear netters, Now is the time for us to determine both of our next machines and DBMS. Currently we have used Sun Sparc Server 10 Model 41 with Solaris 1.0 and Informix Version 4.0 on it. Now our school considers to buy more powerful machine and the two candidates are Sun Sparc Server 10 Model 514 and Sun Sparc Server 1000 with two or four CPUs. I heard that the two candidate machines must run on Solaris 2.x environment. The questions we have are: 1. Can Informix Version 4.0 run on Solaris 2.x environment? Some rumor say that it's not possible and hence we must upgrade to Informix Version 5.0 since the two candidate machines should be equipped with Solaris 2.x. 2. If we must upgrade from Informix Version 4.0 to 5.0, can our previously developed programs (written in I-4GL) be ported easily to the new environment? How much efforts should be necessary for the porting process? Unfortunately we have no experts who can make answer for the above questions. I'm sincerely looking forward to get info/advice from friends in the Net-Land. Thank you.
