Hi,
could not write log tape error is coming while taking ontape
-c.Informix version is 7.3
tar command is working fine.In config file device entry is /dev/rct0.
First the logical log backup is directed to harddisk. After DDS3-dat
drive has installed.
Guideme to restore the problem.
tks

Hi,
I'm not quite clear what you are doing.
Are you backing up the logs to tape device or to files?
The file or divice has to exist and must be writable for
user informix. Some newer versions even do check for correct
setting of file access rights.
It is also possible that you have a space issue, i.e. not enough
space in the file system or on the tape. You can get space issues
on the tape if you have overestimated the tape devices
compression capabilities. In that case you have to put a smaller
LTAPESIZE value into your onconfig file.
That's about what I can think of right now.
Regards,
Martin

After you installe dthe dat drive, how did you update LTAPEDEV to tell
it of the new drive?
Did you edit onconfig or did you midfy the value using onmonitor
If you edited onconfig then you need to restart IDS for the new
parameter to take effect
