RE: Report Tools over IDS

Yes, but is Crystal Reports now generating web output? Also note that even if you can generate an HTML output, you still need to get it to your web server. One question Mark has to do is to ask the customer if they want to run dynamic reports or is it just enough to be able to display 'canned reports'? That is dynamic reports that are run on the fly from a request versus a canned report which is a report run at a specific time and the results are made available over the web. To give an example... "real time" inventory and sales figures would be dynamic. Nightly Sales totals or even a weekly sales report would be 'canned'. Usually these reports are generated and stored as a .pdf and then an ECM app would make them available on the web. The point is that you need to dig deeper in to what the customer wants. I'm interested to see what is available. Also you could use a crystal reports or even the web datablade to run a report and then use a 'mash up' to post the results to the web. (Again lots of ways to slice and dice it.) -G > Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2009 10:20:32 -0400 > From: jcatmull@xtivia.com > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Report Tools over IDS > > Mark, one of the best tools I have seen, although not for awhile now, > so I don't know how well it is doing, is Crystal Reports.
