RE: Archive seems to be failing

Can you run the archive from the command line?
Are there any other symptoms of problems in the database?
Are you filling the device you are writing and reaching the end of tape?
(How much was written to the tape?)
7.31.UC6 is somewhat old. You should look at upgrading to UD8.

Subject: Archive seems to be failing
The DB is IDS 7.31.UC6.
I was looking at the online.log this morning and discovered these
lines:
22:10:10 Level 0 Archive started on rootdbs, hutrep_dbs, gendbs,
eom_dbs
23:00:52 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 14 seconds.
23:51:01 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 9 seconds.
Fri Dec 23 00:20:04 2005
00:20:04 Archive on rootdbs, hutrep_dbs, gendbs, eom_dbs ABORTED.
00:20:04 Aborted by client.
00:25:21 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 8 seconds.
Going back i discovered that the last archive that completed was Nov
27, but there were regular failures before that. Also, almost every
failure (9/10) is exactly at 00:20:04 (if not at this time then it was
random)
The homegrown script that runs the backup has been telling me that
everything was OK, so I haven't been worried. However another log that
I've just discovered has this line in it:
Archive failed - buc_fe.c : Archive API processing failed at line 291
for msgtype
This log only maintains the information for the last backup so I can't
investigate a pattern. However, I'm now pretty sure that the backups
haven't worked for a month.
I've done some Google research but nothing that I found gave me an idea
as to how to fix it (except DBSPACETEMP which is pointing to 3
different large temp DBSPACES).
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance and a Merry Xmas and a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!
