There are features in each engine which will never make it across to the
other. These development teams are like two rival companies. They fight
it out for top honours, never sharing code developments.
Although 7 & 9 got merged, I don't think you will ever see 8 & 9 merge.
In fact you could well see 8 disappear in a few years due to lack of
interest from the buying public. IMO.

Imagine trying to load a Baan database with HPL. We are talking about
roughly 2200 tables PER COMPANY. I have 35000 tables in one database!
Double Argh!
