Re: update with clause first - now OT

That's not the issue. All of us look at our inbox and can in 10 seconds or less identify all of the garbage and viruses - but then we have to go look in our spam bucket to see if any of our colleagues got trapped there - if you have multiple mail accounts this can be time consuming - especially over a webmail interface. Then we send a mail and get no response. Now I can understand OTC ignoring me - or half of the members of this group, but then there are colleagues you write - and you wonder - they don't reply for 3 days - are they busy? are they on they road? Are they ignoring me? Half the time it's the spam bucket - and perhaps they didn't get to it in time. Then there are all of the guys you hit 'reply' to to dash off a quick note - sorry, that bounces. You have to look at their email address and decode it to figure out where to send the bloody mail. It's not their fault - people are protecting themselves any way they can. I get more mail now than I ever did before, fewer of them than ever before are from people I actually care about, and I spend so much of my mail time working through issues and problems - that I now send very little mail. (you're all thinking that this is a good thing I'm sure). If you've only got an hour or so per day to sort through the mail, and 45 minutes of it is spent on moving garbage around - there's no time to write those 20-minutes missives that we've come to know and love from Tim. I've got correspondence going back 12 months here that I want to respond to, but I want to take the time to think about what I write - oops - here's another load of rotting fish. Times up, I've got to run downstairs for 'Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy'. The 53 unread mails will have to wait. c ya j. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil Truby" <neil.truby@ardenta.com> To: <informix-list@iiug.org> Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2004 5:30 PM Subject: Was: update with clause first - now OT > "hobbes" <pasdespam@yahoo.fr> wrote in message > news:402b90e3$0$28664$626a14ce@news.free.fr... > > > > "Jack Parker" wrote > > > > > And then ....(cut).....
