the question is : I try to select the table systables and sysusers , and I grant the dba priviledge to another user and it is success. So I execute "grant dba to bcvusr" again and now success. I feel if the statement is success,it should insert a record in the sysuser and I don't find a record about bcvusr. And I find the bcvusr still can not use the database,So I insert a record "bcvusr,D,9" into the sysuser manually, and now everything is ok,bcvusr now is ok. I don't know why??? -- Posted via http://dbforums.com

Just a thought: have you ran oncheck lately? I feel that something is wrong
with your database (corrupt data), but I'm not convinced...

Beware; I think you can get success from GRANT when it does nothing. You can get success from REVOKE when it does nothing. Thank you, ISO SQL standards! > I feel if the statement is success, it should insert a record in the > sysuser and I don't find a record about bcvusr. Tut, tut...Direct insertion into sysusers is not a supported activity. Since you don't tell us which user you are running as, nor which database you are using (I suspect Informix SE, but you haven't said), nor which platform (h/w and o/s) you are running on, it is a trifle difficult to be sure what's up. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
