Read the release notes -- there is mention of GCC in there.
Specifically, you will get into problems if you don't use the
-fwritable-strings
option of GCC. If you don't use it, then you are likely to get core dumps
at random times when the I4GL libraries try to modify what turns out to be
a string literal, which GCC carefully placed in the code (text) segment
instead of the data segment, because Unix carefully ensures that you cannot
modify anything in the code segment (shared text and all that).

No, it probably won't officially be supported. Yes, it will actually
work provided you use the option mentioned above.
