SQL Turbo Problem

Executing SQL to retrieve data from tables. Program receives data and presents to user. However, using TOP I can see that the "SQL Turbo" is still executing even after I have received all the data. I notice that it runs for up to a minute after the program/user has received all the data. The above is causing a problem because the SQL Turbo is consuming CPU as it continues to run. As the number of users builds during the day, the Turbo can consume up to 30% of the total CPU available on the processor. With several Turbos running, we eventually begin to max out the CPU. Can anyone tell me what the Turbo is doing after the program has already received its data? How can I get it to quit processing sooner, i.e. lower its overall CPU impact to the system?
