Re: Informix New Era

John, I've recently received my upgrade to NewEra 3.11, which fixes loads of bugs in 3.00, which in turn was, I understand, a major improvement on 2.xx. My impression of NewEra is that it's an extremely powerful tool with a lot of *very* nice features, but unnecessarily complicated in parts and incredibly difficult to debug if you get it wrong. There are some fresh problems with the Menu Editor that weren't there in 3.00, and it's still not hard to get the Window Painter to crash. But my biggest disappointment of all is that they're no longer talking to the people who wrote the AFCL, which could have been a really nice add-on if they'd got it right. My understanding is that a 3.12 is planned, but beyond that I have no idea. -Andy Kent- Bristol, England.
