Intranet Database Access?

I'm seeking advice on the choice of a language for use in building database access FORMS and REPORTS that can be used with Informix Workgroup Server and Universal WEB Connect software. I'd like to move from: to: ------------------ -------------------- OnLine 5.X ------------> WorkGroup Server ISQL/PERFORM/ACE Universal Web Connect | + ?????? | | v v Accessed by: Accessed by: PC PC PC/NT PC/NT Unix Workstations Unix Workstations logging onto the via WEB browsers db server! Has anyone had good/bad experience with languages (supported by Informix or not) that would allow me to write database access FORMS and REPORTS for this "vision"? 4gl Java Perl V Basic NewEra etc....? My PERFORM forms are quite complex and will require a fair amount of "translation" to whatever I choose, but this will allow me to move from the arcane TEXT-based FORMS that are the product of ISQL/PERFORM to the more friendly user interface provided by WEB browsers.
