START REPORT TO PIPE
Posted in 1991
Hello, HELP! I need answers to two questions regarding the report routine of 4GL: 1) There is a known bug with 4GL version 4.00 involving the output of a report routine to the MORE command (you get double spacing). If you try coding "START REPORT rpt_name TO PIPE more", the output will be all messed up. This is bug #3825. Has anyone coded a workaround for this? 2) I need to send the output of a report to the user's printer slaved off his terminal. I've coded a shell script that turns on the appropriate terminal modes for printing and displays the contents of the file (using the cat command) which ends up going to the printer. It works just fine when run from the command prompt; however when I try sending the report to this shell script by coding in my 4GL program START REPORT rpt_name TO PIPE "script_name", the .4ge program is terminated and the prompt is returned. No core is dumped. The program is simply terminated. Is this related to the bug above and does anyone have a workaround for it? I *must* send the output of the 4GL report to the slave printer at the user's terminal! How can I do this? Thanks J.
