RE: drop empty dbspace & dbimport error...

You dont have sufficient temp space to create the index. You will still
have this problem if you try to create this index later.
I presume you have DBSPACETEMP set to all 6 temp dbspaces. To sort I would
expect you need
2 * (indexsize * number of rows) in temp space. Add more space to each temp
space.

Subject: Re: drop empty dbspace & dbimport error...
Hi Listers,
I'm back.
I tried dbimporting the database but although I created the dbspace with
two 2GB chunks, the process failed due to the following:
create index "opsi".akmch4 on "opsi".mch (coentfincble,femovcble,
nrctacble,cotiuniorgext1,couniorgext1,comon,nrtercble,coprod,
cosbp,cotiuniorgext2,couniorgext2,cotiuniorgext3,couniorgext3,
nruserid,txvalsdocble1) in testgldbs2;
*** execute sqlobj
212 - Cannot add index.
179 - ISAM error: no free disk space for sort
I have 6 temporary dbspaces at 50Mb each. Given constraints on the disk
storage, how should a DBA/System Admin determine what size and how many
temporary dbspaces to create? This set of tables currently use 1.4GB of
informix storage of this this particular table with 12 indexes use 1.1GB of
the total informix storage.
I'll follow Paul Mosser's advice to load only the table data for this big
table.
I'll have to remove the create index statements from the schema file.
Then run the create indexes schema after the database is imported.
Please for your advice,
Regards,
Denmark W.
