Re: Extend overflow(in systables?)

Informix alloctaes space for tables in amounts of disk space
called extents. You specifiy the extent size for a table when
you create it. There are two controlling parameters. These
are the EXTENT SIZE which is the size of the first extent created
for the table; and the NEXT SIZE which is the size of all
subsequent extents allocated for the table. If you don't specify
these params at table creation the default is given (8 pages I
believe).
This warning means that these tables have more than the suggested
number of extents created for them.
These tables are meta data tables created by Informix for you database.
They hold definition information about your stored procedures. About
the only thing you can do at this point is modify the next extent
size with the command:
ALTER TABLE sysprocbody NEXT SIZE XXX
ALTER TABLE sysprocplan NEXT SIZE XXX
XXX is a value you must determine. There are some utilities available
for these calculation. The most prevalent information in prediction
is the number of expected rows for the table.
This is a WARNING and not an error so don't be too upset. You can
get the exact number of extents by running a query to sysmasters
database.
SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM sysextents
WHERE dbsname="<your_db>"
and tabname="sysprocedures"
SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM sysextents
WHERE dbsname="<your_db>"
and tabname="sysprocbody"
If you not on version 7 or higher you can run:
tbcheck -pe | grep sysprocedures | grep -v WARNING | wc -l
tbcheck -pe | grep sysprocbody | grep -v WARNING | wc -l
-Bill
