You are spot on in your comments. I have programmed in Pascal for 16 years so I find Delphi excellent, but each to their own. It is at least a real language unlike the New-era code which seems a cross between Basic and Pascal. > But what about application partitioning? See Web-Hub for an example of this. > Also, if you have a substantial investment in Informix-4GL code, then > NE must receive preference over every other tool. The site where I started with New-Era had no investment whatsoever in Informix 4GL, so it was irrelevant as an upgrade path. If there is no 4gl investment then I would hesitate to recommend New-Era. > Because we'd spent many years developing 4GL apps, we were extremely > reluctant to adopt any Client/Server tool. Well Delphi improves with leaps on bounds too. I would drop like a hot potato any tool which did not personally, it just becomes a dead end. BTW How object oriented is code when you are forced to use 4GL legacy code? And what is the performance of New-Era like when you don't use Informix as the back end?
