Generally speaking HDR is very reliable.
A basic but often effective check is to run a select query on some data
recently updated on the primary and then run the same query on the
secondary and compare the results.
Usually "onstat -g dri" can be completely trusted but I know that
9.40.UC5, for example, can get into a state whereby it claims all is
fine and is not actually replicating. I haven't seen this problem in
later versions though and we have a lot of customer HDR systems.
If you suspect a data corruption on the secondary, use oncheck, e.g.
oncheck -cDI <database name>. Data corruptions are rare though.
I guess if you're still not convinced the last resort is to reinstate
replication from a backup.
