Direct answer: There is no environment variable to turn off name mangling. However, the environment variable C4GLFLAGS needs to be set to include the command line option "-globcurs". Alternatively, I put the compile command "fglpc -globcurs" into my make file as my way of compiling the code. This solved the 507 problem for me. The unnamed guru (whos identity you have no doubt guessed but don't ask me) also pointed me to the TOOLREL_6.0 file, which contains a discussion of the cursor_name() function. This is a great tidbit of info but, as Nils pointed out, why would I need to? As it happens, I do NOT use the same cursor name in multiple source modules because I use the cursor name to remind me of the purpose of the cursor. Besides, I might find it convenient to use an UPDATE WHERE CURRENT OF <cursor-name> in a situation where the <cursor-name> was declared in another source module. Thanks all for helping me get my project moving again. -- -- Jake (An ESQL/C programmer hiding inside 4GL applications) . . _..-'( )`-.._ ./'.
