Problems on HP
Posted in 1998
Hello all,
I have a strange problem and can't seem to figure it out. We have just
received
another HP9000 (used) and have added DSA 7.23 and the tools. Let's call this
machine hp6. On another HP9000 we have the database server, also running
DSA 7.23. Let's call this machine, hp1. We also have several other HP9000
boxes running as 4ge clients to hp1.
Now the problem. I can access the database on hp1 as root but not as Informix
or anyone else for that matter. I can perform a "rlogin" without submitting a
password, so I'm fairly certain that my ".rhosts" files are OK. When I start
dbaccess on hp6 and try to connect to any other machine, I always get
"930: Cannot connect to database server (hp6)"
The /etc/services and the $INFORMIXDIR/sqlhosts files are setup because I
can access any other engine in any other box, but ONLY as root. I'm more than
a little baffled because I can do a rlogin to the other boxes cleanly.
Any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated!
