Modified Buffers

OK, this is where we are : I'm running 4.10 RDS using both 4.1 AND 5.0 engines (this error occours using either engine) both SE. Platform is a good ol' 486 running SCO 3.4.2. The database has been rebuilt more times than Microsoft have announced delivery dates for Chicago. I have a program which basically processes invoices. It goes thru the first 4 invoices (approx 70 inoice detail lines) with no trouble at all. Somewhere on the fifth invoice (a real biggy with 139 detail lines) I get the following error : Cannot update modified buffer (or sommit very similar) Error -408 Invalid message type received from the sqlexec process. This error seems to hit from anything from the 13th to the 30th detail line. After each error I scrub the database and reload from a dbexport (since this error seems to play merry hell with the internal row counters on some of the tables). I tried this out on an HP and the program seemed to work OK. Seems to me then, that my problem must be down to kernal configuration.
