SR. DATABASE SPECIALIST, AES-00-024 The Applied Engineering Solutions Business Unit of our computer services firm has an opening for a Sr. Database Specialist. This position will work out of our Washington, DC office and is located across the street from Union Station -- easily accessible by (subsidized) Metro, MARC and VRE trains, with parking next door, too. Job Description: Database administrator for Informix Dynamic Server 7.x. Provide database consulting services to government technical staff; responsible for design and performance of database servers (Compaq Proliant 6000/3000 servers running Sun Solaris Intel 7) for OLTP applications. Duties include review and recommendations on installation of Informix Dynamic Server v7.31; and ad hoc consulting on database architecture, database security, backup and recovery, performance tuning, etc. Works in close coordination with BTG platform integration team providing consultation and troubleshooting and with government technical support staff in use of Informix customer services. Background and Experience: (a)Minimum required: Five years experience as Informix Dynamic Server database administrator Prior experience in providing consulting services to internal or external clients Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in making technical presentations and preparing white papers. (b)Desired: Work experience at government site highly desirable Experience with Sun Solaris Intel versions 2.6/7. Experience with using Dynamic Server and Metacube for data warehousing/data mart projects. Experience with financial accounting and case management applications.
