my box is ids10 with TSM.
I issue 'onbar -b -L 0' or 'onbar -b -w -L 0' to backup label 0
archive.
It will backup logical log automatically . Why It do this ?
Can I backup full system not include logical log file just like
'ontape -s -L 0'?
it does probably a log switch... anyways:
if you do a onbar -b -w -L 0 you can do a restore without logs.
check the manual...

Either 'onbar -b -L 0" or 'onbar -b -w -L 0' , will backup logical
log together !
Not just switch log.

Nope.
(if i am correct V11 will backup the logs to allow a paralel
backup???? CHECK THE MANUALS!!! )
hmmm dependant on the version; in the past < V11
if you execute a onbar -b -L 0 and your LTAPEDEV was set to /dev/null
you could not restore. This because the logical logs were not backed
up.
so the glue to glue all together was missing.
if you did a
onbar -b -w -L 0The logs on disk in the dbspace where the logs reside are backed up in
the dbspace
where the logs reside!!!!!!!! same way as ontape works!!!!!
execute a onbar -b something caused a log switch which executed a
onbar -b -l due to the alarm program.
Superboer.
Just to clarify:
The following commands will backup the dbspaces and logical logs:
onbar -b -L 0
onbar -b -L 0 -w
The following commands will backup dbspaces ONLY:
onbar -b -p -L 0
onbar -b -p -L 0 -w
If you set LTAPEDEV to /dev/null and start the instance then the
following commands are NOT allowed:
onbar -b -L 0
onbar -b -p -L0
This is becase this type of backup is a "dbspace backup". Every dbspace
is backed up in a different time (different checkpoint) and therefore
logical logs are needed to restore them.
The difference from V11 and V10 is that V10 will consider only the value
of LTAPEDEV in the onconfig, while cheetah uses shared memory, therefore
it cannot be cheated :-).
In Cheetah also Whole_system backups are also parallel, therefore, they
do not look alike ontape backups anymore.
