Index creating

-- Hello, I noticed the following; To speed up index generation I splitted the work up in 4 sessions, from 4 sets of tables I generate the indexes in parallel. The tables are belonging to the same database. I expect that my index creation time decreased but I see a minnor improvement in performance. My 4 CPU`s system (NUMCPUVPS=3) has a load of 30/40 % and the disksubsytem can cope with it, disk load is around 10/20 %. Is the problem due the fact that all session access the sys??? tables or what else ?.
