after server crash (digital Alpha dec2100) using Digital Unix 4.0D I installed the operating system. the C-ISAM-Runtime-library(5.x ) by Informix is not available. Our customer programs(MF Cobol 3.2) use it. We need urgent the lib libisam.a (/usr/lib/libisam.a) to run our system. All our tapes are not readable. The original Tapes (QIC-Tapes) are destroyed. Where I can get/buy these old tools? Thanx for help!

C-ISAM is a separate product - bought in its own right. Contact your IBM sales representatives to purchase it. Bad luck on the crash. Those sound like very ancient versions of everything - you may have to negotiate to obtain replacements since I'm not confident they are kept on hand. I trust you are revisiting your backup and disaster management strategies in the light of these problems - and once you're up and running again, you should look at moving to more recent versions of the hardware and probably the software too. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/

In fact, you can be pretty certain that they won't be available. IBM is very assidious about removing access to old media. For example, it has not been possible since last autumn to get from IBM IDS 9.30, a product that, although well within support, has been designated "out of marketing" and therefore unavailable.

Is it? The end of service date is 30th April 2005 (source: http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/informix/support/plc/). I would not call that well within support :) Ben.
IBM does encourage customers (especially new customers) to get the latest version of product OS etc hence the removal from the electronic delivery pages 1 year before the end of service date End of marketing products (eg IDS 9.30) can me made available to existing customers via technical support however Ben Thompson wrote: > Neil Truby wrote: > > > Very true.
